Alexandre Dubuet Pommard Les deux Terroirs 2022, whole harvest.

I went on a Burgundy trip to the vineyards with my daughter Capucine recently. Here are my tasting notes for Alexandre Dubuet Pommard Les deux Terroirs 2022, whole harvests:

A lot of substance, great fruit, a hint of bitterness, perhaps something temporary…

The fruit has more volume, while remaining from the Côte de Beaune, a Pommard, so it does not have the richness of a Chambolle, it is much more fine and structured. We have a fruit that is more limited but with wonderful spices. Pommards are wines that have a fairly high alcohol content of 13.4 to 14%, but we don’t feel it at all, perhaps due to the fact that they are whole harvests… Which means that the ripe stalks make the wine. It’s very good, and the alcohol is almost invisible, whereas a Spanish wine with a high alcohol content will tend to knock me out…

I don’t think it’s purely the alcohol that knocks you out in a wine, it must be something else too….

In any case here, the winemaker has nicely balanced all that with his whole harvest.

Very pretty, and will be even better in 5-10 years
